AMD Sempron 2800+
MSI K8NGM-V MoBo
512 PC 3200 Patriot RAM
CoolMax ATX v2.01 PSU

thats the setup i have right now. it runs at 1.61 GHz, and 448 RAM (since 64 goes to onboard video..grr)

i want to overclock it. i dont have any extra cooling devices though, only the stock and some other sh*tty little plastic fan. will i be able to overclock at all?

i know my BIOS will let me do it fairly easy; you can change the voltage and FSB and all that stuff in it. basically my question is how much can i overclock this on a standard heatsink/fan without destroying all my hardware? any help appreciated!!

heres some pics in case you need them:

you can overclock it,
and since you have the stock cooling, i suggest not to touch the voltage...
i reliezed increasing voltage is what matters with the temperture of your cpu

i oc'ed my cpu alot, but the temperature stayed the same as before overclocking

alright well im a complete overclocking n00b-
what exactly do i increase and how much in the bios?

Well, I should really direct you to the OC101, but since you asked so nicely...

When you are inside the BIOS, get to the section where you are able to change your CPU's FSB, Voltage, etc...

The most simplist and easiest way to overclock right now, is to just increase the FSB by 2 or 3 Mhz at a time... Once you have done so, boot into your OS and run the PC for a while. Check its stability - run a CPU intensive program. If your computer goes with no fail, increase the FSB a bit more. If it crashes, or you notice any unusual activity, then reduce the FSB until this no longer happens.

Repeat the above until you have a nicely overclocked, stable and cool (as in temperature wise) PC.

:)

you should be able to oc, like rambo said, about 3 mhz on the fsb at a time, dont change the voltage with stock heating, and get some cable control in that thing

ok i finally understand it! the thing is, i cant find how to increase the FSB in the BIOS. i see how to increase the voltage, which im not doing since i have stock heating, but i dont see the FSB. i have an MSI k8ngm-v mobo. i googled for a half hour and i cant seem to find it. anyone know if overclocking is even possible with this mobo?
