This may be hopeless for my system, I had a drunk person throw up all over inside my computer tower. It was next to my bed and the side pannel was off of it, and this girl rolled over to throw up and about half of it went inside my tower. Luckily, the computer was turned off. Next morning, I took every component out and washed the acidy tacobell off of it. I'm not sure if using water was the best idea, but I couldn't think of anything else. I let all the components sit in the sun for a while, then back inside for the night. About 24 hours after it was washed it was re-assembled. I hit the power button, the fan turned about a half turn and stopped. So I figured it was screwed. But, about 2 hours later, I came back from Chicago, and the computer was sitting there running. But, no image on the screen. I figured ok maybe I had the IDE cables backwords or something. So I held down the power button again, and it wouldn't turn off. I unplugged it, let it power down, pluged it back in, and now it wont turn on again. I tested the power button with my DMM and it works fine, so it's not the switch. Any ideas on what would cause this?? And by the way, no puked made it in the power supply, I didn't wash it except for the wires. Thanks.

Less details

First off I would have just posted that someone pitched a bucket of water at me and hit my computer.;) Now if after the board dryout and still no working computer. It just might be time to think about a new system. If not wanting to travel that path your going to have to start with the mother board and the processor the memory and everthing else attached to it. And find out if it is still in working order. Then everything else needs a good checking. It's going to be a slow process one that you just maynot be able to do yourself. Anyway you have to start somewhere.;) Goodluck.:)

You say that the fan did spin for a tiny bit, could be that the motherboard still works alright, could be the psu (power supply) that has been damaged, do you have another system's psu to try? Or perhaps ask a friend. :)

girls are filthy creatures, i hope she was worth it.

As for the damage, well the water will not damage a components so long as it is dried WELL.
Vomit is very acidic and may very well have damaged a lot of stuff (it will strip the paint off a car in about 8 hours!). Best thing to do is wash everything again, REALLY WELL in pure clean water, then rince everything in distilled water (from a kettle or boiling pan). Then leave to dry in a cool place for about a decade (well about a week) and then reassemble resitting everything properly and taking care to correctly insert all cables.

lovely girl....be sure to take her home to meet your mum

well that is kinda of mean to girls.

Dont think the psu would be damaged, since it is at the top and if she puked on the top, well the entire mobo would be covered...

Good idea. But if you dont have that much time, you can run to your local wal-mart and pick up a gallon of distilled water for $0.75.

i think that your Fu**ed right up the shitter. you have most probably shorted out some of the components on the mainboard. try to test each individual component and see what you can salvage. the rest you should probably throw away and buy the fu**ed up components again.

sorry to hear about this disaster mate
P.S girls are only good for one thing, and make sure that your computer is far away as possible during your recreational activities ;)
