you know an amd 2000xp runs at 1.6ghz how is that equivalant to a pentium 4 2.0ghz i dont understand can anyone help me?

From what I been told amd does more in one clock cycle then intell does. so more information is done in a 2.6 athlon then in a 2.6 pentium.

Yeah

The main reason AMD brands its product under terms such as Athlon XP 2000+ is so that the inexperienced consumer, guided mainly by Mhz speed gets the impression (rightfully) that the AMD processor is as fast and as many claim, faster than an Intel. So a 2ghz AMD will most likely overpower a 2ghz Intel processor.

JAN :D

so pentium 4's are faster
"So" nothing. AMD and Intel are completely different architectures and you cant compare them so broadly. When you get into specific facets or areas of testing then we can say one or the other is faster but not so broadly.

Intel has abandoned the "Hz" notation in favor of an Index number too
