AMD turion 64 x2 or core duo

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd ask for your expert opion on which of the following 2 notebooks to purchase. They both seem to combat each other in every way possible but i think what it boils down to is whether it would be better to get an intel core duo which is 32 bit and has a 2 meg cache. or an amd turion 64 x2 which has double the power graphics card bit only a 1 meg cache

HELP! I'm torn between both of these laptops. What do u guys all think?

the links for the two comps are as follows:

thanks for you quick response, much appreciated

what about the cache though, dowes it make a noticable difference having 2 meg rather than 1?

Thanks in advance

That's a harder choice for me.

AMD: Better integrated graphics, worse processor

Intel: Better processor, slightly worse graphics.

kof2000, Intel Core Duos, even though they don't have 64bit, tear apart Turion 64 X2s..

Thanks for your help guys,

Looking at your various comp specs it looks like your all pretty faithfull to your processor lol

graphics is quite an issue for me because i am a keen gamer, in the past i have had laptops, and the shred graphics has let me down somewhat, from what ive heard, there isnt muc difference between the core duo and turion 64 x2, Ive heard that the core 2 duo is significantly better as it was realeased later to improve on the core duo, as well as being 64 bit.

The only thing that i dont really have much experience in is the cache. In your guys experience, does the cache size make much difference to things like gameplay, multitasking etc?

Cache does make a difference, but its not as big of a deal as clock speed. It made more of a difference with the Celerons and Pentium's since they only had 128-256K to begin with. But if you're asking betweeen say, 2MB and 4MB, it wont make that much of a difference.

thats a tough one... id say the Core Duo...the hard drive is a little smaller on it, and its got a little worse graphics but that Core Duo will make up for it nicely...it load faster and work quicker
