AMD v Intel - Which should I go for?

I am trying to decide on a new laptop and not sure on the differenc between the CPU manufacturers AMD and Intel.

Any copmments on either would be helpful!

I would get the Intel in the laptops. I would get the Intel Pentium M for single core and for dual core i would get the Intel Core Duo or also for single core you can get the Core Solo all of them are great processors.
 
Intel has the mobile market. Definetly the best choice right now. I've not used the newest AMD mobile processors, but I've read countless reviews about how much better Intel is right now.
 
From personal experience as well as reviews Intel simply controls the mobile market. The Intel Core Duo processor would be an excellent choice, I have one and it really is quite a fast processor, it also gets good battery life.

agree with the masses, Intels Mobile range are the best
 
I bet my Athlon 64 X2 (on a laptop) would out benchmark any of those intels. Intel only has the mobile market because it doen't heat up as fast and so doesn't burn your feat, and the battery lasts longer, especially if you have centrino. Other than that, it's really about what you want to do with it, if you just want to surf the internet and do simple things then intel is the way to go, but if you want a gaming laptop then AMD is what you need.

Who really cares that your X2 would out benchmark the Intel stop bragging. Intel Core Duos are excellent for gaming you dont have to have AMD all the time.
 
And no, believe it or not the intel mobile kicks gaming ass. Now when you go in to the desktop department AMD excels.

Before you start to bitch at me, I am an AMD guy, all I use is AMD and only AMD, but for laptops intel was cheaper and a marginal 3% faster in performance compared the best AMD of that time (Feburary). (excludes the extremly expensive AMD FX 60)

Laptop - Intel Centrino 2.0Ghz is a great price to performance ratio

Centrino is a wireless chipset associated with the pentium m and celeron m. It doesn't help battery life.

The Core Duo outperforms the AMD X2 counterparts at a few things. And it also outperforms the X2 in some gaming benchmarks and games, such as 3DMark06 CPU test.

The Intel Core Duo is one of the best mobile processors currently out.
