AMD vs. Intel Relative Speed Info Req'd.

Hi,

can anyone tell me which of the following two CPUs is likely to be the fastest - I've tried looking at various sites, but can't seem to find both on any one list.

1) AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dualcore 2.40Ghz

2) Intel Pentium Dualcore E2200 2.2 GHz

I'm in the process of replacing the CPU/Motherboard in my mother's computer, and would like to know if one of these CPUs is appreciably faster than the other.

Thanks for your advice. I thought the Intel was probably the fastest chip, but am grateful for the confirmation. Now all I've got to do is get my order out of Dabs "Security Clearance Hell", and I can build the upgraded computer!

What's the number of the AMD? Normally a E2200 vs a 4800 would be a tight decisions, at standard settings of course. But if you want to overclock it, then definitely go for the E2200. But I would suggest you buy the 5000BE. I think it is about 10 bucks more, but It's worth it.
