AMD vs. Intel>the face-off

Sempron 2800+ vs. Celeron 352
Sempron 3600+ vs. Pentium 4 631
Opteron 185 vs. Pentium D 935
Athlon 64 X2 5200+ vs. Core 2 Duo E6300
Athlon 64 FX62 vs. Core 2 Duo E6600

If you know of some CPU's that make a better comparison, feel free to speak up. I just looked through a Tigerdirect magazine and picked some stuff out, they round to the next tenth of a decimal on the CPU speeds(e.g.> Core 2 Extreme X6800 is actually 2.93Ghz, they have it as 2.94Ghz) No big deal.

Thanks>>this might help some of the newbs out there in PC building:)

Matching them up price wise may have been a little better.
Since if they both clock at 2.4Ghz, but one is $300, and the other is $500...
Hmm.
Not fair =)

hmmm

Athlon 64 FX62 vs. Core 2 Duo E6600

hmmm judging by the price and performance, I think Intel Core Duo E6600 is much better. AMD just can't follow intel's performance and price at the same time. :P

I also agree with Omega, except for the 3rd match up. W/ the E6300 being able to be O so high do you think that the 5200+ would still hold up? Or are we talking just stock model to stock model. Cause if it was which cpu has more potential I would go w/ the E6300.

well aside from performing differently in different applications... id go with intel's core 2 duo over any... if not for how cool it runs, but for how overclockable it is as well.
however i would in fact prefer a sempron or low grade athlon over a celeron... for sure. of course, if i were going with a low grade processor i would most definitely go with whatever happens to be cheaper at the moment.
