AMD vs Intel

I used to only use intel, and i thought they were fine. But i got my Sempron 2800+ yesterday and it rocks! Plays Halo full settings (more then my P4 3Ghz). So if any of you are thinking of a new cpu for mostly gaming, deffinetly get an AMD, Athlon 64 or Sempron.

Intels are faster at performing multimedia tasks like compressing and decompressing video or music and stuff like that.

Why do people buy 3400 athlon processors or higher when they can just overclock a 3000 by 1 full GHz

depends on there motherboard and cooling, i have never been able to overclock it a full Ghz before, only about 400-450Mhz on an Intel P4.

You're right a lot of overclocking depends on the mobo.

Well I have heard that some people have...though 2.6-8 seems like the most common speeds that people can get to.
Plus Pentiums are different that Athlons...
