I am building a computer on saterday so i went to one of my dads friends that work at microsoft. He recommends intel over AMD and i asked why and he said overclocking you cant depend on it. Is that true or should i sill go with amd?
It is 100% wrong.
1. If you are a gamer, go AMD
2. If you are going to do dual core, go AMD.
3. If you are just doing basic work, then either is ok.
Now, just remember....some chips from either manufactor is easily overclocked, while others are not. Don't know if you are planning to overclock or not. I am guessing you are new at this, and may not be planning any overclocking adventures.
4. A MICROSOFT employee will 99.9% of the time suggest Intel. I am sure you can guess why.
AMD is currently the best for gaming, and is also better if you want a cool and quiet pc. You can also overclock either Intel or AMD, so i dont know why he said that.
AMD > Intel in everything except multi-tasking. AMD was built for gaming, while Intel chips may be a little more flexible, so if you're just getting a computer to search the web or do minor tasks(iTunes, web, etc.) I'd go with Intel.
