AMD X2 6000+ vs Intel Core 2 duo e6700

which one is better in a long term investment

the things that are offsetting me in my decision are that I have a AMD athelon 64 3200+ right now and I like AMD but 6000+ comes at a whopping 125w as the e6700 comes at 65w

Also my room is around 17 C temperature will that offset anything

I need some core answers and hard facts

Read the conclusion, E6700 is much better than 6000+

And E6600 performs on par with 6000+
 
okay fine I guess my mind is now fixed on the e6700

thnx if there is any way to convinve me more please convince me more so I dont think of AMD

Very good point.

Even if the X2 6000+ isnt too far behind, there are other aspects to look at. For instance, the Core 2 Duo should run a bit cooler, and it has much greater overclocking potential.

You'd be lucky to get the 6000+ to 3.2 or 3.4Ghz, while you should be able to get the E6700 to around 3.6-4Ghz.
