an email question about - "read receipt"

is there a way to set up "read receipt" or even delivery of email when using Hotmail, or Yahoo?
I can set this up when I use email from the school, it informs me that the message was delivered, it informs me when the receiver has read the email.

Is there a way to arrange this with Hotmail or Yahoo?

I know yahoo has the functionality, but the user has the ability to send the confirmation or not... It is not automatic.

I dont have the free yahoo account, so it allows me to do this..

Yahoo Mail Plus is what gives you use of capabilities to collect or send emails through
use of email clients.
You do it through POP account. Like through Outlook or other email client.
In My own Outlook to set it up. Go to Tools > Receipts Tab > Requesting Read Receipts
> (Check) Request a receipt for all sent messages. > Returning Read Receipts > Always
Send Read Receipt > Apply > Ok.
