Is it possible to find out the IP address of someone who has emailed you within yahoo or hotmail?

no because the headers of the email will list IPs of the hotmail and yahoo servers, not the person who sent the mail.

I'm sure someone said it could be done. If I remember rightly a friend of mine used my computer to email someone I knew using a new yahoo account and the recipient thought it was me because it had the same IP address...
