An interesting problem - does a solution exist?

This is a windows-based question and a solution for any windows o/s xp and above will do fine.

Ok, so you know video files need audio/video codecs to play correctly. For example, DivX, Xvid, and so on. All of these video files have the .avi extension.

So my question is as follows; is there any way to order many video files (100 plus) by codec type?

Believe it or not, computers are my life, i have been fixing and messing around with computers ever since I was small. This is the first time i've ever used a forum like this XD I can usually find the answers to my own questions but this is buging me!

Anyway, this seemed like an easy solution, simply order it like you want anything in a folder; set it to details view and click the tag title for video or audio codec at the top. Such tag does not exist :(

Thanks.

if your asking how to group say all of the DivX and such together its should be easy under 7 or Vista.
Just go to the video folder, and type your codec type in the search box. it will find them all for you. then just do what you want with them.
