An issue while connecting to wireless router

Hello,
I have some issues using shared internet on wifi. It started recently. The network is shared on 3 laptops, My flat mate and I. The problem is this. Whenever I connect sitting at the farthest corner of the apartment, it cuts off the entire router and I have to restart it to work again. Otherwise it works fine. It's the same with every device. My router is a an old model from Linsys, not remembering the model, and I use DSL internet service. I don't think it is the problem with the modem.

Replace the router with a decent Asus model. You can try updating the firmware to see if that helps.

Sounds odd, do you have a lot of other wireless traffic in your area?

As per John I'd upgrade to a newer unit, preferably one with dual band. The old WRT54G were pretty sweet for a while, but they were introduced in 2002.

When you get a chance, let us know what model Linksys wireless router you have. Also, do you have detailed information on the type of client devices you're using? Such as model and/or vintage?

Hey Ken,

Sounds like you're having problems with some dead zones. Your best bet is to upgrade your wireless router since you mentioned you had an older model. If you want to stay with Linksys, i'd suggest the E1200. It includes MIMO antenna technology that will give you more broad wireless coverage, the option to set up a seperate guest network without using the full network. Hope you are able to fix the issue!
