An older HP ram

Quick question. I have an older HP 8570C. It says that it comes with 96mb of ram. Now there is two stick in the mobo. Does this mean it is dual channel? It also says it can take up to 256mb. I am wondering this because I am looking to do some minor upgrades to an existing comp before I but together my full out build. Thanks

that sounds like it is a really ancient pc, probably built the last part of the last century. It probably uses dimms and has a 32 meg and a 64 meg dimm and in no way is dual channel. DDR ( double data rate ) ram is dual channel.
If this is an old pc it would be far better and actually cheaper to build a new one.

yes it is an old pc. I was just wondering about the ram. I am swapping out a bad hd. The replacement is like 7 bucks online. The pc still works just fine just a bad hd. I was thinking about swapping out the Ram with some 256mb (no name cheapy online). Im doing this just to play around with stuff before I build one for real. Thanks Viking.

sounds like a plan, just make sure you do not get buffered ram , i think they also had synchronis ram too,
