For future reference...in the past i did have 1 hardrive die on me..i remember the day well!!

I have a slave and master setup....i didnt partition my slave hd ..nothing like that..simply stuck it in, recall clicking a few buttons in windows and bobs your uncle..i now save all photos and hd video to this drive.

All im asking is...SHOULD my master drive go bang...can i simply buy a new HD, install windows etc..and will i be able to locate / receive all the pics etc i had on my slave drive?

Or, will they be kinda hidden/lost and not able to locate them?

Is an external HHD the way to go...why are they better to keep things on?
 
Yes if your main drive dies, all you need to do is get a new drive and the slave drive will be easily accessible from the new drive.
 
But if your slave drive die instead the main drive, and you didnot keep a copy in the main drive, you will lose all those photo and hd videos. so if they mean anything to you. get an usb extenal drive back them up or keep another copy in the main drive.
