Animated GIF creator ?

I read a few threads and my search terms led me to GIMP, but I just can't see how to make multiple images into an animated GIF.

I'd greatly appreciate if someone would either tell me it's not possible with GIMP or what I need to do to take these images into one animated GIF.

Also, if GIMP doesn't do this, to direct me to some software that does would also be appreciated.

I appreciate the suggestion, and it did work very well, just a couple issues I have:

It watermark's the pic with the site's name which I'd like to avoid,
and I don't always have connection to the internet so I'd like to be able to do this with native software.

Now, I know it is in fact possible to create animated GIFs with GIMP, but I just can't figure out how to do it. I'd appreciate if anyone with experience with this software explained to me what needs to be done.
