annoying windows startup problem

i have an annoying problem with my windows xp 32 bit sp3. what happens is after the the windows screen (the one with the windows logo and the loading bar underneath) the screen will go completally black and it will hang on this for about 2 minutes before finally moving up to the blue xp screen which consequencly also takes a alot more time than it should to get to the desktop. i have uninstalled any programs that i had install just before it started happening and have also defragged, virus scanned, nothing made any difference. i have tried googeling the problem but all the other people that have a problem simaular to this theres seem to fail to boot altogether. i have 119gb free out of 149gb and this is a new build only done at christmas.
does anyone know what this could be.?

How many RAM u have and do u have a lot of startup programs ....Or could be ur AntiVirus Prog...?>?>
 
specs are in my sig. its not anything to do with startup programs because i disabled most of them on startup ages ago this problem has only just started happening so its not the antivirus either
