 About every 2-8 restarts, (using HD #1) (i haven't figured out if it is a program doing this) my computer will not boot.It just has the stupid blinking line. SO I put in HD #2 and clone it to my HD #1, this works for a while, then the process repeats. I have gone through this 4 times as of now. Any Ideas, All I do is run update, (theres like 60 updates) and install a few games. No updates are for hardware. Heres a list of what I install after I clone it:

Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (works after reboot)

Not sure if these work yet----^

Dreamfall demo
WMP10
FRAPS demo
Splintercell Double agent demo
Splintercell choas theory demo
Trackmania Sunrise demo
Trackmania nations
Universal Combat demo

the latest thing I installed per clone:

#1 ?
#2 trackmania nations
#3 dreamfall
#4 nothing

Any Ideas of any kind???

It's telling you it's time for a full install from an installation disk to create an original master boot record of it's own. Cloning drives only goes so far. From XP on with Vista now out plan on performing a fresh install for each drive to see the best results. That makes it go a lot easier with the Windows Validation tool needed to download and install updates properly.

Ok, I'll go get the disk. However, when I tried originalyon HD#1, I would put the XP disk in and It would say inspecting hardware... then It wouldnt load any files, it would just go blank, I put HD#2(see above if you dont' know what i'm talking about) and It installs XP just fine... we'll see what happends this time.

Is your HD #1 an ide or sata drive? Is that the 80gb drive listed in your sig? If it's not and it is a sata drive you will need to prepare a driver floppy and press the F6 key while setup is beginning. The drivers will be loaded to allow the installer to properly detect the drive. You will also have to set that drive as the first in the hard drive order found in the bios setup program. Otherwise the current drive set as the first will be booted automatically.

I just put XP Pro on a new 500gb sata here without seeing any bootup once Windows was installed a second time as well as the first. The reason for the second was to isolate the mbr so that it could work as a stand alone. Do you have the cd for the board? Put that in while Windows is running and first choose the format option with a floppy in the drive. Follow that with the 32bit sata option if that is the version of Windows unless running 64bit.

The next step to avoid problems of course is unplugging the second drive. Make the #1 drive is set in the bios as the first in the boot order if any other drives are present. This will be when you enter the "hard drives" menu by pressing the enter when highlighting that. From there leave the floppy in and boot from the XP install disk and be ready to press the F6 key. If all goes well the installer won't see any driver error message and you can continue on with a fresh installation. You probably had a bad install the first time if the drive itself doesn't have a fault.
