another computer issue

I was putting together a pc for my cousin. We purchased a new case, an msi motherboard, 2gb ram, 600watt psu, 320gb sata harddrive, a geforce 8400gs 512mb video card pci-e, Amd Athlon processor. I put everything together like i usually do, I put psu in, plugged the power plugs into motherboard both parts, and plugged case plugs for power switch and such onto mother board. I started it up and everything is running in side as normal, fans are spinning, lights are on, cpu heatsink fan is spinning, no beeps. One issue, no video shows up screen, I switched the video card back and fourth from both of the pci-e slots, I checked the ram and ram is in perfect, and still no video. Any one have any suggestions of something i may of did wrong to not show video, or get video card to work.?
 
why dont you try just using the onboard video and see if you get picture than. that will at least let you know its not the video card if the same problem happens.

Check all your power cables, unplug them and plug them back in and double check to see if you've gotten everything plugged in. Also try moving your RAM and switching slots.


I know when I did my first build I had that exact same problem and the thing that was causing it was a power cable that wasn't all the way in for the CPU.
 
No beeps means the BIOS may not be posting.

Try booting with only one stick of RAM in the first designated slot.
 
ok here is what i did, i tested video card on another pc and it worked, i rotated the ram each one in each slot, and tried it with no ram in, still nothing, i checked all power plugs there all in. All the parts were bought new except motherboard and processor. i payed for it online from some guy for 50 bucks for all of it. so im stuck here i need to get this working and i feel i have tried everything, any thing else you guys might know>?

50 bucks? Sounds like he might have sold you a dead motherboard and/or processor..
 
the motherboard powers up, because the heatsink fans spins and everything and everything lights up on it, can it still be dead or bad if it lights up
