Close all windows and browsers and hit "Fix Checked".

Find and delete this file.

C:\WINDOWS\ALCXMNTR.EXE

Then download LSPfix. Run it and check "I know what I'm doing". If 'pfftsp.dll' appears in the left pane, move it across to the right, and hit "finish", if it doesn't appear just hit "finish".

Then reboot and post a new Hijackthis log.

My name is May I Help You with all the words backwards. I worked at a store til last saturday. The name came to me as I was looking down at my nice little apron they had me wearing.
 
MY hijackthis is gave me an error in the middle of the scans. "An unexdpected error has occurred at procedure: modMain_StartScan() Error #6-Overflow.

If the file is missing, it cannot be used, so i delete it. Never had a problem.

I'm not stupid enough to go and delete some of the firewall stuff it reports all the time, so don't think i'm doing 100% of what it tells me lol. I know a bit about my PC and what is harmful, so the automated service is handy.

I'll recommend what i see fit to recommend, here, there, anywhere. I have that right. You have the right not to listen to me...

That's like saying i can't recommend a certain band because you're the moderator and you think they suck. Or i can't recommend a blue shirt because you're the moderator and you like the color red better.

This method of HiJackThis works for me, i never have suffered from using this method, and i recommend it to others who would like to try it out.

We seem to be power hungry today.

I guess i'll keep my opinions to myself from now on in this forum. So ends the day of being able to recommend to others the software that you use, simply because people don't agree with you.

Did I miss the "Recommendations must be unanimous in order to be valid" memo?

These analysers are not completely reliable at all. If you were to put the HJT log from this thread in the analyser you mentioned, you'll find it's not sure if their HP printer related entries are spyware or not! There is simply put,... no substitution for a real professionals guidance, especially when it comes to HijackThis. Oh, and btw HJT has known bugs as any program has, but most don't realize that, nor what they are.

I did that, and with a little common sense, anyone can recognize this.
Also, earlier, i mentioned it reported some of my firewall files as being dangerous too, again common sense leads me to jsut ignore this.

It does however still catch blatant errors, which should be deleted. It's alot faster and easier to use it for the easy to catch stuff, instead of waiting hours on forums and getting mixed info from different users.

I don't see why, jsut because a mod disagrees with me, he/she can go delete my posts. The fact that my method might be wrong/not as good as another is irrelevant. It works, i can prove it, because i still have a working computer right here lol.

Ignore my posts if you wish, but deleting them is a step too far i believe. If this is an acceptable method, then why aren't other people's opinions and wrong answers deleted constantly? I dunno how many wrong answers i have seen in threads, i ive them out too, but they aren't deleted. Why is this any different?

You *do* realize that, while your techniques may work for you .. they may not work for everyone and that perhaps those less technically inclined may stumble upon errors and caveats that you skipped over? While I'm not personally passing judgement over your reccomendation, I am however asking that you understand that (a) not all users are technically savvy as you (in response to your comment that "I'm not stupid enough to go and delete some of the firewall stuff it reports all the time, so don't think i'm doing 100% of what it tells me lol. I know a bit about my PC and what is harmful, so the automated service is handy.") and that (b) if you do suggest something like that (which we both know can be tricky at best and does require experience -- experience which, if the original poster had, would not have prompted this thread in the first place) -- that you make note that it is indeed a tricky method and possibly not the best route

The one thing you fail to realize is that what you call "common sense", may not be "common sense" to someone else and that you do need to tailor your responses to their specific requirements -- if you want to help -- now if you dont want to help then that's a different story. :) (as a suggestion: to avoid issues like this ... it vastly helps your case if you actually step people through solving a problem rather than say "use common sense" -- if it was up to common sense -- then it wouldnt be a problem and they wouldnt be asking for help)

While I concurr (personally) that 4w4k3's methods may not be appropriate for dealing with this situation, I think that (a) he's gotten that point loud and clear and (b) unless its flammatory or hostile or breaching actual rules and such, deleting the posts was a bit more than necessary, it's more effective for everyone involved that, if you're so inclined, to retort comments on an individual basis rather than to censor.

Do realize that 4w4k3's method IS doable -- but it does require a bit of experience in recognizing things -- what 4w4k3 summarizes as "common sense". I will, however, suggest the route suggested by the Mods here as it's clearly laid out

Now that I know of that program I COULD do it. I just don't want to risk me misreading something and deleting something that I want. I feel much better having someone that knows what they're doing look at it rather than just hjaving some random computer program do it.

Your log's clean. The entries Praetor mentions above are things that aren't necessary, you can fix them with Hijackthis, some of them will need to be disabled in the program or via msconfig.
