Another Laptop Recommendation!

I'm about to start pharmacy school and I'm in need of a new laptop. I live in Jacksonville, FL.

I would like to spend somewhere around $600 or less, if thats possible.

I'm not going to be playing any crazy games or anything like that, but I'm going to a distance campus for UF and we will be watching most of the lectures through the internet. So I guess I need something to accommodate that, I'm not really TOO familiar with computer hardware.(which is why I'm here!)

A decent sized screen would be nice I guess, but if not I could hook it up to my big screen TV too right? It's fairly new and has all of the cool hookups.

I also like to multi task, so whatever it is that will allow me to have a lot of stuff going at once. Thats where the RAM comes it right?

Anyway I guess thats really about it. Thanks a lot!!

If you get a computer with vista on it make sure it has 2 GB of ram, or else it will be kinda slow. My acer has only 1 GB of ram, and it's slower than my Sony (But I also got the sony pretty tweaked). I'd look at some of the acer models that newegg.com has to offer. They seem like pretty decent laptops for the money.

Any laptop that has a Intel c2d 2.2 or higher 2 gigs at least and some graphics card. Check out hp's latops's they have everything I posted and the laptop finish is nice looking smooth every nice. Hope this helps. For under $600 for a laptop I don't think you will be gaming maybe sims2 or wow but no new games that are out now.

Hey thanks for all of your input. I've upped my budget just a little because I would like to have that 3GB of memory. I think I've narrowed it down to these three. Tell me what you all think.

As far as I can tell they all look pretty similar, besides the hard drive, but I think I could live with 160GB.

Is there anything else in the latter two that would make it worth forking out the extra dough?

They look good, but i would go for the last one.

Why are you going with AMD, i think for that price you could get something better......

Compare Laptop Computers

It can be confusing to choose from a very vast farm of laptop these days. The first thing that you do would be to compare laptop computers, in terms of price, performance and to how it corresponds to your needs. By seeing the details side-by-side, you can compare laptop computers easily to evaluate which one is the best. Depending on your standards and needs. ;)

So Intel is better than AMD?

Also if I bought one with just 1 or 2G of RAM, is it pretty easy to install more if I wanted?

I'm pretty handy with taking apart electronics, but I've never done RAM before. I replaced the hard drive and the screen on my current Toshiba laptop and they came out fine. I couldn't believe how easy the hard drive was, just popped off one little panel that had like one screw. Is RAM on most of them pretty much the same?

Killbill-Mac fan boy- You just trying to get your post count up with all these stupid answers? Show me a Macbook for less than $600. Read the original post.

Bad accusation... And, seriously consider the possibilities, there are some used Macbooks out there for around $600. I don't know if the OP wants one but, would it hurt to suggest? Maybe, if I told the OP how good a Mac system is for college and productivity(printing ;)), he might think about opening that budget for a Macbook. Just on a sidenote, a Macbook will last longer than a PC laptop. When Apple releases a new OS, they don't put your hardware out of date like Microsoft tends to. Seriously, the OP needs to consider a Macbook and it does qualify for him as an education discount.. :)

Take a look at this Viao...

@OP, consider that Macbook... You get a free iPod after the rebate... And $100 off the Macbook.. :D

rclayton, I noticed your post criticized KillBill's post but you provided no alternative or better idea... You're post was worse than KillBill's, at least KillBill presented an idea to the OP.
