Another RAM question?

For four sticks of 1GB RAM to run TOGETHER, do they all have to be the same stick? By that I mean could I have for example two brand A, a brand B, and a brand c.

It all depends on the pc/motherboard that they are being put into. Some pc's are picky about the memory they use.
 
Okay, thanks. Also, If I were to remove all of the RAM in my friends computer and replace it would it just work or would I have to set something up? He has two 512s and I wanted to replace them both with 1gigs and add two more 1gigs so he would have 4GB of RAM so his games run better.
