Another s-video problem

ok i have a problem. I have connected my video card up to my tv via an s-video cable, all went well i even got a picture. The problem is its in black and white which is really annoying. On my s-video cable there are two pins missing (on every one i have seen in the UK) the guy at the store assures me them extra two pins are an "American thing"..and it should work fine without ? could this be the source of my problem or is there something else i should consider?

one last point i have the end going to my tv, going into a scart converter (if that makes a difference)

try and use a converter i used a RCA(yellow) to Svideo and it worked fine

also check the PAL/SECAM/NTSC setting in the TV-out settings
