Anoying problem

I am running a P4 3.0ghz with 1gb of ram and a geforce 7600gt in my computer and I am having trouble when it comes to playing games. At the moment I am playing Fifa 07, a game that sould not have a problem running on my pc, but nevertheless I am having troubles. The game runs smoothly except for everyfew seconds the screen will freeze for a split second then resume as normal. It does this is many of the games I play and I just cant seem to find the problem. I have tried updating my drivers, changing resalutions and graphical settings, refresh rates, everything I can think of but I just dont know what the problem is. can anyone help me.

turn the settings down? are you getting massive fps drop? friends 1ghz pentium II does that on css :)
 
I dont get any drop in fps... the game just stops. and i seriously doubt that turning down the settings is going to help considering the game only needs a 1.6ghz to run and im getting high fps without drop.

check for spyware defrag your hdd and stop as many running processes as you can before playing you can also make sure your memory is seated properly
 
That could very well be tied into your HDD. Check for action on the HDD LED. Also, if power sags for a second it could do that.
 
I have used System Mechanic to clean up my pc and defrac the HDD but still nothing. Its really anoying having a decent computer and still having games that dont run proply.
