antec 900 case and psu question

I am interested in getting one of the antec 900 case by the end of this month. As the case has a unique psu design which is at the bottom of the chassis, I would like to know do I have to place the psu in the upsidedown way as there is a large fan vent at the bottom of it.

What I mean is, basically just imagine a regular psu mounted at the top end of a regular case. There is an additional fan vent(or whatever appropriate to call it of which I felt its purpose is to help pull air out of the psu) below it.

I am quite concern for the fact that if the psu is placed upsidedown there would be some form of degrading of psu performance. But if I do not turn the psu upsidedown in the antec 900 case, wouldn't the psu get heated up as the bottom is being blocked by the case floor.

Would really appreciate any advise else its a shame I am not getting this case anymore.

Yes... but it's not like the screws are gonna come out, the whole board falls on the cover.. 2 metal pieces touch each other... an flame sparks... the case blows... fireengines... Ok I'm done :D

What has it got to do with blowing? Seriously, I don't get you. Do you mean the case is bad?

no, you just put the PSU in upside down so now the fan points up rather than down. it will perform exactly the same as it was when it was at the top of the case.

Well. Thanks for the convincing input.
Done with case. Now moving on to the PSU of which to to be placed upsidedown in this antec 900 case...............
I have chosen enermax noisetaker 480W for the following system:

amd athlon 64X2 6400+ with zalman 9700led
asustek m2r32-mvp
leadtek px8800gt 512mb
2gb kit crucial ballistix tracer ddr2 1066mhz
vista home premium 32bit
seagate 500gb sata2 16mb

What do think of this PSU? Is it a good match for this weird PSU positioning case as well as the above mentioned fully loaded rig?

Id scrap the idea for stetting an antec 900, the collermaster CM 690 is bigger, has a bottom mounted PSU, has great airflow and cable management techniques, and it also looks great (THere are some pics in my sig) i highly recommend it,

Its also cheaper :)

Hehe,

Taylormsj hit on the one flaw I find in the 900, CABLE MANAGEMENT.

As for the PSU I have had mine mounted upside down since I built the rig no issues.

The CM 690 also has vent holes for the bottom mounted PSU, and risen feet to the PSU can intake cool air, also vibration dampening foam where the psu screws in to the case

LOL

I cannot afford more

I have my CPU on the way and my 8800GT is just chillin, I am going to install them both at the same time so I do not have to open up the beast and start screwing around with it.

Everytime I open it up I get that voice in my head telling me I can route the cables better!!

The only downside to the upside-down bottom-mount PSU is that certain components designed to be on the bottom of the PSU will then be on the top, exposing them to heat from other components. But really, this isn't an issue that you should care about. I use an Ultra X3 1000W PSU in mine (modular, will really help in the Antec), and haven't noticed any undue temps.

I can tell you that your Zalman 9700 will fit just fine in terms of the side of the case. You might even have room for the side-mounted fan, if you so desire. I know because I have a 900 with a 9700LED. The LED on the fan will match nicely with the case fans.

Another word of advice...try to move at least one of the HD cages to the top, so you have a straight chain of airflow from a 120mm, to the Zalman, to the rear exhaust 120mm.
