Antec NeoHe and Asus a8n problem?

Hey i've had this problem with my pc shutting down when i play a game/run 3dmark/run other really heavy stuff (but not when i run a cpu benchmark:confused: ).

I first tought it was my video card overheating but then i found on a silentpcreview forum that Asus and Antec NeoHe have problems.

Guess what: I have an Asus a8n-E and an Antec NeoHe  .

But do you guys know anything about these problems? Do i have to buy a new PSU or a new motherboard? (or RMA it).

Where is the problem? With Asus or Antec?

A8N has a common problem with the chipset fan failing ! im not saying that is your problem but it will be one thing to check in the bios.

These shutdowns have been becoming more frequent. It's starting to become really annoying since i can't even work in windows anymore without worries. Sounds like a failing PSU to me.

When i get my new case i can test it with the psu that comes with the case but that i'll take about a week i think.
But i still wonder why this new 90 euro psu is failing.

I still wonder if it's asus or antec making the problem here. My guess is antec.

OK, I don`t think its the psu at all (might be wrong but here is summin to try!)
Take the side pannel of the case and remove all the pci/pci-E cards and RAM !, reconfig your cable (dissconnect and reconnect them and give everything a BLOW/WIPE. them put everything in again. Just have a go and if it still does it then its probabley the PSU !.(I hope this helps).

i tried that... but no luck.

I even tried different sockets for the powersupply cables (it's modulair) but nothing.

HMMMM thats to bad, You need to get a different PSU by the sounds of things and try that.

If you lok on this forum you see my exact problem.

I guess antec NeoHE is too new for Asus.

I wish my new case would arrive already damnit! I can't send the psu back to the store since it's been a while since i bought it. It's not broken so i don't think rma works :/.

I've send an e-mail to antec asking if they could give me another powersupply like the true power or something. i'll have to wait for that.

Have you monitored temps while gaming? If your chipset is overheating (likely if what ghost said is happening) or any other components that could cause a shutdown. Try using speedfan or motherboard monitor etc...

I just tried with 2 extra fans (table fans) and it just shutdown again.
But even before it loads windows the computer sometimes shuts down so...

Well have a logging program monitor the temps and voltages and you'll see :)

Whoohoo antec send me a new psu. An Antec NeoHe 430 (same type) with the asus a8n fix
Neato, did they elaborate on the fix?
