Antec took a dump...

Hey everyone- i know i don't post here often put u guys are the best at answering questions.

Anywho- I have used an Antec Neo480 power supply in my machine (see sig) for about a year or so. I just got back from a 2 week trip, and went to fire up the machine and it wouldn't even turn on.

I heard a faint sound that was coming from the power supply...like a repetitive chirp, but nothing. Today, I went out and purchased a new Antec Neo 550 watt and the machine works fine.


Two questions- what happened to the power supply? What will Antec do for me?

Will they replace it, repair it, or give me a new model since the Neo 480 is not made anymore?

If I had to guess, I'd say capacitor failure. That's only based on the history of these units, however, without pulling it apart I can't tell you anything definitive.

What will Antec do for me?

Will they replace it, repair it, or give me a new model since the Neo 480 is not made anymore?

If it's still under warranty, they should replace it with a NeoHE 500W, assuming it can't be easily repaired.

No offense but, if I were you, I wouldn't have bought another Antec. I would have sprung at a Corsair.
 
Well i spoke to someone from Antec today-

By sending in the Neo480 and proof of purchase (receipt from Fry's Electronics) I am qualified to have a replacement power supply sent to me. :) It most likely will be a Neo500. This is exciting news-
