Anti Virus for one year, Continue with symantec?

Hi everyone, Our small company's antivirus has expired. We were using norton internet security 2009, and now were looking to buy 2010. It costs 109 dollars for 5 packs. We have 25 computers at our company.

Its required that were able to configure by the end user (advanced users can disable and enable different options)

We do not need global administration.

Does anyone know of an alternative that would be cheaper but just as good?

If it were me id probally go antivir premium but that quickly changed when I realized it would cost 1200 euros which is god knows how many millions of dollars.

I know Avast has small business solutions and compared to Norton it is not the system resource hog. Plus they have discounts depending on the length of liscense purchased.

By the way, if you do decide not to go with Norton keep in mind their products is notorious for leaving remnants of itself behind. So after you uninstall then go to their website and use their Removal Tool for your version to make sure your system is fully clean.

because it is a large business, I can't really help, got no experience there, but i can tell you, your thoughts on the current exchange rate between euro and USD is waaaaay out, at the moment it is:

1 euro=$1.47

therefore

1200euro=$1763.14 :)

not quite as big a dint as you thought :P
 
haha i know man i was just kidding about the euros, i lived in germany for a year, i used to hate converting dollars to euros because everything is more expensive over there, So i will look into avast, lets hope pedro can get us to a game 7!! howard needs to get his bat going
 
523 for 25 pcs.... very nice price for avast, is it very customizable? so our programmers can open ports etc

someone told me norton douesnt take up a lot of resources

Avast has very friendly and knowlegeable forums and I am sure their Customer Support will be more than glad to answer your questions.

Norton/Symantec have gotten better with the resource demands but compared to other offerings the "others" are better solutions. Everyone I have ever worked with who have uninstalled Symantec note how less resources are used by another software.
 
Someone in my office says the freeware anti virus actually adds spyware on your pc, is this really true?

Just don't install any of the rogue antivirus/security/antimalware programs. Some of these programs get installed without your knowledge.
 
Superantispyware is ok to download and install. I use it as a backup to malwarebytes.

Just be careful when you are browsing and don't click on any pop ups that say you are infected please click here to download our program. Thats an infection itself. Just click on the x to close it out, don't click anywhere else on the popup.

Just watch out for programs such as these... as these are all bad.

Antivirus 2007 thru 2010

There are others but those are the most common lately. There is also a fake security program out that looks exactly like windows security center, can't remember the name of it.
