Anti-virus program HELP

I download a lot of torrents and I don't have any anti-virus and I've gotten the trojan 6x and I just had 90,000virus deleted last week (no lie the guy was pissed) anyways I need a good program that will like check my torrents so I don't get any more virus, suggestions?
 
Yes there is a solution: don't download torrents any more. Most of them contain illegal pirated software (like music, games, programs etc) and, of course, viruses. The only good use I found is downloading the linux distributions, and sharing your creation to others.
 
Download a free antivirus program such as AVG - http://free.avg.com/

It will be able to protect you just fine.

Also make sure the windows firewall is turned on and that you install all the windows updates, these improve your security alot.
 
I use Avast. Never had a problem with downloading torrents. like mentioned before, read the comments first before downloading and scan the file before installing.

I would also suggest you have a firewall as well...... depending on what windows you have..... if you have vista, i wouldn't really worry about it... but maybe XP i would, just to be on the safe side. I suggest Comondo, does a very good job on my Vista machine :)
