any good for online gaming ?

1, latency is part of the wifi connection, how long it takes to get from the server to you nd back, but that comp will max out anything today, prob close to max on bf3 if not max, but idk bout the price, and if you ever want to overclock then a 2600k is necessary, the non k has a locked clock so overclocking is severely limited on it.
 
would any 1 recomend an upgrade or downgrade on it ??
and the price probably is high but i just dont no where to get all the parts tomake my own from NZ
 
If you gave us a budget we could get you a list of all the parts you'll need for cheaper than the one above. It's really not all that hard to make one. The sticky at the top of Desktop Computers about building one is very informative.
 
Nvidia and Radeon both make good cards. No one is particularly better than the other. One month Radeon will have a better card and another month Nvidia will have a better card.

Case
Power Supply
Motherboard
CPU
RAM/Memory
Video Card
Hard Drive
Possibly an SSD at your price range. This is basically a really really fast Hard Drive
Operating System

Look for...

i5 2500K

Good cooler for Overclocking :D

Motherboard with a P67 or Z68 chipset. Preferably ATX from Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, ASRock. Socket 1155.

4 or 8gb of DDR3 1600 at least CAS 9 if not lower

GPU of your choice. Look for AMD 6850, 6870, 6950, 6970, OR nVidia GTX 560TI, 570, 580.

A GOOD PSU that meets the requirements for your GPU. XFX/Corsair/Seasonic/PC Power & Cooling/Antec have some good ones

Case with good airflow

CD/DVD drive

HDD- STAT II or III 7200RPM From Segate Western digital or Samsung

Windows 7 Home Premium

Mouse/keyboard

Monitor- LCD or LED 1920x1080 at least 21.5"

mixing brands do not matter. The parts just need to fit together.

Stick to the brands that I mentioned in my last post for power supplies and motherboards.
 
thanks u for your help but i think i might just purchase the 1 in op as i really have no clue there are so many things to look at
 
unless ou just want the best you can get then go for a 2500k, will perform the same in games, i7 only benefits in 8core apps, and i only know of 1 game that is and will see any benefit, and it will be a while befor they make games that need any more cores.
 
so from what i gather i should ask to upgrade the ram to 1600 ? and get a gtx 570 or 580 and get 2600k not 2600 ??
 
Yes. Really a i7-2600k is overkill. An i5-2500k would do just as well in games for a while and would save you some money. Upgrade the RAM to 1600 and a GTX 570 or 580 would do very well.
 
Like others have said, its a very nice system. 16gb of memory is more then double what you will need for a while. I would rather go with less memory that is faster and have a buffer of 25-50% unused memory then go with slower memory and not use 75% of the memory most of the time. With Vista, a few side programs, and a fairly modern game running, I am using less then 2gb of ram. Lots of people still have good performance with 4gb of ram, and 8gb should last for several years.

With online gaming theres 2 additional huge factors when it comes to performance and neither of these can be changed by you. First is the speed of the network all the way from your computer, through your ISP, to the game server, and then all the way back again. Plenty of opportunity to degrade performance. Second is the game server itself. If the game server cant handle the number of players on the server then you will see decreased performance.
