I hadnt seen any of future release of Core 2 Duo in Wiki. Do anyone know Core 2 Duo E8700 might come out? I might plan to buy Core 2 Duo E8600 soon to replace Pentuim Dual Core E2220 for newer games.

its possible, but i don't think they'll be updating the core 2 line anymore, if you didn't already know, nehalem is coming out very soon(i've heard around november 11th)

It just I like to upgrade the final CPU for my motherboard and change the graphic detail to max. I am going to wait and see if Core 2 Duo E8600 will drop the prices. I know nehalem CPU is the best of all, but I dont want to spend money to buy new motherboard, CPU, and three memory rams.

there are plans to release an e7500(2.93ghz version of e7400), e5300(2.6ghz version of e5200) and q8300(2.5ghz version of q8200).

as far as I know, intel is just going to fill in the lower end more and let nehalem take the high end, so I doubt there will be an e8700.

Yeah, E8600 3.33 GHz 6 MB 1333 is still faster than all of them expect nehalem CPU for gaming. My computer is only 8 months old!!!!!

From what I have heard the Nehalem processors arent any better for gaming than the current quads or duals we have now

Well the issue is not the quads....its the programmers.
From what I been reading which made my change from Q6600 to a E8500 is the fact that there are very few games that support more then 2 cores...I think 16 games support 2.5 threads.

Quads will be the rulers of Q3-Q4 of 09 I am sure but for now C2D is the way to go.

Also since the chipset and cpu is new I don't expect the Nehalem to be better then current quads till they work the bugs out. Also to get support for programs etc.

Just my views on it after reading up...also E8500 is 45nm and from what seen can be OC on air @ 4ghz and 5ghz with water.

If a PC guru has anything to add/deny on this lemme know. To be honest though getting a E8400 is cheaper and can easily be clocked to 4ghz too.

My motherboard is not made for overclocked and I use a program called setfsb I can overclocked up to 15%, but not on newer game. In newer game, it just quit to destop in anytime. I am running 10% overclocked now.

I am staying off of Q9650 and E8600 because it too expensive. I forgot to check the price at first....
I dont know which good time to buy for gaming and future gaming. I will buy i7 CPU, motherboard, and memory rams in few years later.

These two I am looking for.

Q9550 2.83Ghz 12MB 1333
or
E8500 3.16Ghz 6MB 1333

I dont think so.I guess the current quads are where the 775 socket stops.I am sure they might have some new steppings though. They probably want to ween people onto the new I7 tech.

Yes, faster for gaming, but if stick a ZALMAN 9700 Copper heatsink on a
Q6600, you can easily get up to 3.5GHz. In that case, the Q6600 would wooop the 8600 until you over clock it.

Ok.... most of you telling me to overclocking.... I found other program that will overclock my CPU it called "Intel Integrator Toolkit Framework Edition". But this is advance setting, most of the setting is not in bios setting. Like change Processor Multplier from 5 to 40, Memory Frequency 667Mhz to 1600Mhz, Memory voltage from 1.80 to 2.80, etc

Information about my motherboard is very limited setting....

Is this program worth to try overclocking?

I'm not absolutely sure, but those volages and overclock speeds sound like they would completely break every part of your computer.

there's actually a bunch of new core 2's coming out, including dual core mobiles, energy efficient quads, and mainstream dual cores:

Q9550s 2.83 GHz 12MB 1333 MHz $369

Q9400s 2.66 GHz 6MB 1333 MHz $320

Q8200s 2.33 GHz 4MB 1333 MHz $245

Beginning on January 18, Intel will launch three new Core 2 Quad processors with a TDP of just 65W. This is compared to a 95W TDP for most other Core 2 Quad processors. At the time of launch, the price premium for the Q8200s, Q9400s, and Q9550s will be $62, $54, and $53 respectively compared to the non "s" models.

Intel is also launching a new Pentium Dual Core processor in November and one more on January 18. The 2.6 GHz Pentium Dual Core E5300 will show up on November 30 priced at $86. The E5300 will be joined by a 2.7 GHz Pentium Dual Core E5400 on January 18 priced at $84. At that time, the E5300 will see a price cut to $74 while the older 2.5 GHz E5200 will fall to $64.

Slightly higher up on the food chain will be a new 2.93 GHz Core 2 Duo E7500 priced at $133

Intel's power efficient 35W processor lineup will also see some changes in at the end of the year. No less than five new processors will be introduced ranging in price from $241 to $530. In addition, the slower 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo P8600 will fall from $241 to $209 on January 18.

Intel also hasn't forgotten about its other businesses when it comes to price cuts. Intel's multi-level cell (MLC) X25-E solid state drives (SSDs) have been burning up the benchmark charts thanks to its highly optimized memory controller. The street price for the 2.5" 80GB X25-M -- and its 80GB 1.8" X18-M counterpart -- will drop from $600 to $525 on November 30. 160GB variants of the X25-M/X18-M will show up in the first half of 2009 and will initially be priced at $990.

Moving over to the single-level cell (SLC) parts, Intel will introduce its high performance 32GB X25-E for $700 on November 30. For those that are patient, the price will drop to $575 on December 28. A 64GB part will be introduced in the first half of 2009 for $990.
