Any solutions?

Hi. I have a virus but it is located in the ROM or something like that. Im not a computer wiz so i dont really know how to get acces to the ROM of my harddrive. I got help from one of my friends but i didnt really get what he said so.. I would appreciate it alot if someone could help me on this one. I have battled with this virus for months and im getting tired of it.

Also... im from sweden so... my english isnt 100% perfect so if ya got anything that can help me please keep it simple.
 
I seriously doubt you have a virus in your ROM. FIrst off, ROM is not part of your harddrive. Now the HD might have some sort of ROM with firmware and all, but nothing you can access unless you upgrade the firmware of it.

Other ROM's would be like you're BIOS... But either way, if any of these were effected, I doubt the computer would do more than just sit there.
 
If you have a virus you probably also have spyware too. Please follow the steps below: :)

1. Disable System Restore (right-click on "My Computer", Properties, System Restore, check Turn off System Restore).

2. Enable viewing of all files/folders (open "My Computer", Tools, Folder Options, View, click "View hidden folders and files" and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types").

3. Update your Anti-virus program and run a full scan. If you don't have one or your subscription is out of date, then run BOTH online scans below. If you can run a scan with your updated Anti-virus program, then just run ONE of the online scans below.

4. Download CWShredder, VX2finder, Kill2me, and run them. Let them fix what they find. See these links for download:

5. Now, download Ad-Aware SE, and SpyBot, (both are free, see links below) install them and update them seperately. Then run a FULL system scan with Ad-Aware, (not the Smart Scan), and check all the items it finds/let it remove them. Run SpyBot and scan, let it remove what it finds. REBOOT your machine and run them again, TAKE NOTE of what items still remain that they couldn't get ride of! Some items will be taken off from a 2nd scan and some items they will NOT be able to remove at all, (Note what those items are).

What if there are some items that cant be removed... what do i do then?
Also forgot to tell u that i have formatted the computer a million times atleast but the virus is still there. If i format and then install windows and then just let it sit there after a while these spyware popups comes. Without me doing anything. And no, there is no virus on the windows disk.

Do you have another harddrive inthat system? Or perhaps a burnt disk for windows :P Ooor, once I had a bad floppy disk that always infected my computer when I used it to load windows.
 
sounds like when your doing your restores, your not formatting first, you must be just re-installing windows over itself..
 
do you have back up cd's/dvd's of stuff. if so, scan those for virus's, my mate did that, he must of formatted 6 times in a day
 
I Format the comp. Its clean. I put in a windows disc (100% clean). Install the damn thing but the virus is still there. I dont have any other harddrives at the moment.
 
Some months ago i got a virus named Download.Trojan and i couldnt remove it... so i think its that. When i format my comp it will get this popup saying blabla windows is shutting down in 60 seconds unless i install Panda Antivirus (no other AntiVirus seems to work). I constantly get spyware popups. The computer is slow and my connection is terribly slow altho it shouldnt be. Also... when i play games with my friedns through a TCP/IP connection i get disconected after 5 minutes not to mention the lag.
 
well try downloading microsoft antispyware or counterspy. Counterspy finds more stuff and has real time on it. But you can download them by going to download.com
