Anyone ever use a pci card tester?

I've used them, not much point in my personal opinion. As you can tell defective parts by process of elimination usually tell the defective part and it almost always needs to be replaced with a working one.

This just gives you the same information that the POST beeps do, right? If so, I suppose that it could save some time by only having to use one reference chart for every mobo, but overall I have to agree with tlarkin.

I've got one. Can't say it's ever been a life saver, but it can give some info regarding the POST sequence. If it hangs you can see exactly at what point.

Actually, I'm glad you mentioned that. I considered bringing one into work tomorrow and testing a computer that was brought in. I was a bit curious how far it got into POST...

One of my teacher's brought that into class one day. He said the only thing its ever done for him is save him a little time by skipping some trial and error and just getting the answer through the code. Most of the time its a pain trying to decipher what the codes mean though.
