I have the the Hannspree (HSG1164) Tablet which i bought second hand some time back,Its running custom Android

Android Version 3.0.1
Kernel Version 2.6.32.46-cyanogenmod
Build Number - 10.1

When i switch on the tablet now all it does/say is...

" booting recovery kernel image"
...then that takes me to Clockworkmod recovery.

in recover - backup and restore - i get the following options

-Backup
-restore
-Advanced restore

i choose restore and get

-2011-12-11.23.54.46/

selected that and confirmed restore.

Then it says

Checking MD5 Sums
MD5 mismatch!

So im totally lost what to do,The custom rom that was on this tablet was a major pita anyway,Things did not work right (specifically video related stuff),Volume buttons were opposite to what they should have been, and rotation did not work at all. :D

Ive asked on about 4 different android forums, but nobody replies and the ones that do are not really helping all that much.

I have found the Orig stock Rom available for download but no details on how i go about installing it back to my tablet,So if anyone can help me do this id appreciate it heaps!

Appreciate any help!

If you're not concerned about your data in the root menu of your recovery one of the options should be "wipe data/factory reset" (something along those lines). If it works it will bring you back to your custom rom, but as if you just installed it.

As for your factory images, what format are they? .zip? .img? Something else?

Yeah i already tried that before,Just goes back to "" booting recovery kernel image" in the CWM.

The issue im also having,I cant seem to find the image on my SD card when looking in CWM..I can only see the files on the "Internal" storage.

Whoever you bought it from didn't do a good job on it. Unfortunately some versions of CWM don't see SD card storage. Unless you can find a good guide and download for a better version of CWM, I say sell it as is and pick up a refurbished ASUS TF-101. They're pretty cheap these days.

There are some good tuts on how to install custom roms for this tablet,But as i know nothing about android its really confusing!..they dont go into enough detail for noobs like myself.

On another android forum i asked on,They said that i dont need it to see the SD card anyway as i could just go through 'adb interface' ? (No mounting of USB storage needed) but the problem again,

On my Windows 7 machine,Nothing shows up under USB controllers,Its as if its just not detecting the tablet.

On my spare Windows XP machine However it does detect something under USB controllers the tablets picked up as "Android debug bridge interface"

You'll need the Android SDK installed on you computer for the adb driver that it will need. I thought you could only use adb when the tablet/phone was powered on normally, with USB debugging on. Maybe CWM supports adb? I would have figured fastboot would be the way, provided there's a way to kick your tablet into fastboot mode.

Also, if your stock rom you found is a zip file, maybe you can rename it to "update.zip", stick it on the root of the SD, and choose "install update.zip" in CWM

Right, after alot of reading with people having similar issues (not been able to acces the "Internal" storage on the tablet from within windows, and it generaly been a PITA to set up drivers etc they all said use Linux as the drivers are all ready to go.

and what do you know,Plugged in my tablet in CWM mode in Ubuntu Linux, and it detects the internal streight away and allows me to add/remove files as i please.

Now i deleted all the old crap, and put on the new rom!...finaly i can see the new rom i put on,followed the guide on how to install but i get up to this point

(8th image down)..reboot like it says and i get " "booting recovery kernel image" again.

Arghh!

Its all fixed,I downloaded the stock rom (albiet slight modded for Play Store)..wiped everything again and this time setup went great,Its running an old version of android (2.2) but everything works.

unlike before where tilt did not work, wireless light did not work, audio buttons were reversed etc.
