So anyone know any good alternatives or what kinda plugs fit an hp envy dv4 5318tx?
thinking I might go for a universal charger if one has the required head.

As long as you get a charger that supplies 19V with AT MINIMUM 4.74A of current, it will work fine. There is no need to buy a genuine HP replacement, especially for an old laptop.

The one you linked to in your post shows in stock for me so you should check again.

I purchased one on ebay for my Asus laptop from dcacsales, good price and fast shipping.
was under $ 15 with free shipping, same spec's as the that came with my laptop.

How was the quality compared to the OEM? Just because they say they have the right specs doesn't mean they are.

The left is a knockoff Dell PA-10 and the right is a genuine Dell PA-10.

I have no idea about quality of the charger I purchased, it has the same volts and all that that the original has. It works, so I'm happy with it.
