Anyone know where I can get Microsoft Flight Sim on disk?

If you like to fly fighter jets... why are you playing FSX and not DCS?

I like both airliners & fighter jets, just one is more fun to fly than the other MFS is just the flight simulator I'm currently used to. For a good majority of fighter jet gaming I use Ace Combat 4-6 on PlayStation 2 and on Xbox 360. Ace Combat Assault Horizon was the worst in the series IMO. But those games aren't exactly simulator oriented like MFS is & they aren't on PC. & also I said it gets boring flying airliners after a while SOMETIMES which means I still like to go back & cruse the skies in an airliner or Learjet or the occasional prop planes or glider. Also never even heard of DCS. Suppose its worth checking out. looks like I would need to get that on Steam.

DCS is available as standalone on their website. You don't have to get it off steam.

So I got DCS last night but It kept crashing in the startup screen where it shows the logo. So now its just wasted hard drive space. Any idea on what could cause this?

Which version of DCS did you install? Steam or standalone?

Keep in mind, if you're only trying out the free part of DCS, you need to install DCS 1.5 and not 2.0.

I got the stand alone from their website. I'm pretty sure it is the 2.0 version. I'm running it on an HP pavilion laptop through a Windows 7 64 bit OS. I'll try going the 1.5 version.

It seems like DCS World will not work because my laptop looks to be below the minimum system requirements. I was planing to build or buy a gaming computer at some point down the road anyway. Compiled a list of parts should I take the build my own rout. For the CPU I would want an Intel I5 or at the minimum an I3 because I'm not 100% sure DCS could handle running with AMD CPUs. DCS World's website recommends ether an I3 or I5 CPU. I7 would probably just be overkill anyway.

The laptop I'm using has 4.0GB of RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU running at 2.20 GHz, & display adapter seems to be a basic Intel series 4 which might not have a chance in hell of handling DCS World. The system requirements posted on DCS World's website may be exaggerated probably because they are used to working with gaming rigs but I think my laptop is so basic it probably just barely handles running MFS.
