i got these two things with my motherboard that i won on ebay:

problem is i have no idea what they are or even if they fit in the mb (cant find a slot for them)
i had asked my ICT teacher he said the one looks like the internal speaker, or they could both be blankers (whatever they are)....
all i can tell is that one has a speaker looking box on it and the other has a internet wire socket on it, and says something about networking on the metal peice?

here is the motherboard i orderd, any help on what it is and if it fits in my mb will be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: sorry for the massive image!

I don't know about the left but the one on the right is an Ethernet Card. It will fit on your motherboard but it also looks like your motherboard has onboard Ethernet to it, so you really don't need it.

One on the left looks like a modem of some sort (hard to tell) but the jack looks phone size.

One on the right is a Realtek NIC.

The one on the right is an ethernet card the one on the left is a modem. You can tell what cards are by telling what plugs into them.

Yes, your board has Ethernet on it all ready.
Not sure why you got extra cards though.
But yes the left card is a modem of some sort and the right card is an ethernet card.

I find it hilarious that your ICT teacher could not identify these. While the modem and NIC is almost always incorporated into the motherboard today, five years ago most every computer had a modem and NIC card. Also, the modem does have a speaker incorporated into it, which makes the infamous dial-up noise.

What if they came with the motherboard because its onboard modem is fried or something? I wouldn't get rid of either of those two cards just in case. :D

Just pitch the modem in the trash.

Keep the ethernet card for a spare, if as you say, the onboard one ever goes bad.

i think he proberly couldnt identify them because i showed him a worse picture on my phone (my old one).
i always wonderd where that noize came from, can remember hating connecting to the internet years ago becuase of it.

also the mb doesnt have a ethenet socket on it, anyone know if its supposed to and where can i connect one?

yeah may as well keep them, but i wasnt told of any damage.

also once its all ready how do i turn it on?, i have searched google but most just say to put a screwdriver touching two pins but i have no idea where they are?
EDIT: sorry about the double post thought my last one didnt come through
also the card wont fit into the PCI slot without leaving any room at one end? is it supposed to leave a big gap?

Down by the Blue and Black IDE ports in the corner of the board are the case connection pins. There should be two pins called something like PRW_SW or close to it. You dont have a case to put it in?

i dont have a case yet, thinking of making a transparent one. i just bought a old computer im planning to upgrade (has a case) so im not in a rush to finish this one with a case.
