Anyone tried the ASUS G11?

Yea, and I've come a long way in the three years I've had this current rig. When I first got it I paid someone just to install my RAM for me because I was too scared to do that, and now I'm installing CPU coolers, and even replacing the whole power supply and re-doing my cabling too.

Installing CPU coolers and doing the cabling is literally the hardest part of building a computer. Not that any of it is hard at all really. Confidence is something you'll build over time. I'm to the point of being a bit over confident at times. Still haven't ruined anything though. :D

Only thing I've ruined in my PC was my second graphics card I had in my Crossfire setup. This was back when I put in my other memory card reader. I had to remove my second video card to access the USB header... I set my other GPU on the carpet.

As Darren has just said, installing the CPU cooler is actually one of the harder things to install. I'm doing a build on Saturday and I'm not particularly looking forward to installing the CPU cooler but luckily it's the same cooler that I used in my build so I have a rough idea of how to install it. ;)

If you can do those things then you can build your own PC from scratch. It's not too difficult if you take your time and don't rush. Think carefully and you won't make mistakes.

Yeah you're right. The only reason I paid to have my cooler installed was because it was a whole thing of like 30 brackets little screws and rubber thingies and I was like halfway done and I abandoned it and paid someone to install it right. I had a bit of overconfidence that time.

And about the Asus G11, the specs and all look good, but after you guys pointed out the PCI-E slots that kinda killed it for me.

I've installed various Cooler Master 212's probably a dozen times at this point and I still get confused by the darn thing.

I originally had a Coolermaster V6GT and I replaced it with a Zalman CNPS9900MAX-B so I could access my other two RAM slots which the Coolermaster V6GT covered. The Zalman actually has been keeping my PC cooler than the V6 ever has, and from what I've read and heard the Zalman's thermal tubes are liquid filled or something.

The whole PC will be built to a strict budget using the cheapest components possible so that maximum profit can be made on it.

I really wish OEM PC's like that could be bought case-only so we can build what we want into it because I really like the looks of the ASUS G11, especially the RGB LEDs on the front.

I really do want to build a new rig and I've been experimenting around with PCPartPicker but I really can't find a configuration I'm truly happy with.
I saw the new ASUS G11 at my local MicroCenter and I am really impressed with the performance and looks of it and I tried it out in-store and I really liked it. I'm honestly considering selling my rig and buying the ASUS G11. Does anyone here have one that would like to share personal user experiences?
So you can't find a configuration of custom components that you're happy with, yet you have no problem buying a pre-built PC that has many sacrifices?
