how can I set the opacity of a colour/gradient when Using the flood fill tool to fill a certain shape on photoshop?

i.e. so that I can fill a shape with red, that is 50% transparent, so that the layer beneath can be seen through it for example

If its an even percentage, then simply fill the shape as you normally would then press any of the 1-->0 keys on the keyboard to set the opacity from 10% to 100% accordingly

If you need arbitrarty opactiy opac, go to the layer properties (right click on the layer) and select "blending options" then change the value in the "opactiy" field

thanks mate, I figured it out now though anyway. theres an option on the horizontal toolbar at the top, right in front of my eyes where you can simply click up or down to select the opacity percentage. (thats how i did it anyway, but nice to know there are other alternatives)

also thanks alot for showing me that forum, I'm sure I will need it, i'm always having problems with this bloody program:D
