can anyone give me aim version 5.5.3595? or any other 5.5 versions. all the ones from oldversions and stuff got viruses and malware with them. and i cant find it any other place, so if u have any old versions of aim, please help me out.

if nothing... then i doubt u can pull an install exe out of an already installed version of aim huh?

from wat i've experienced, when i download it, and it hasnt even gotten to the point of completion, my nod 32 would stop the download and terminate it because it says it has detected some malware. but i also got someone on another board to download it and scan it with their version of nod 32 and they have yet to find a thing. so im trying to figure that out.

Well all I can say is I've downloaded and scanned the 5.5.3595 version with a full updated Symantec Antivirus, and it's 100% clean. Plus I have never had any reason to doubt the legitimacy of that site. I can only assume it's an issue with your NOD32, but I can't think why.

alright magicman, thanks for ur test, ill see wats going on here. but its too risky to disable my anitivirus, so yea if i find a solution ill post it. thanks again.

That's not really useful for someone who wants to stay in contact with their AIM contacts, now is it? If you want something that's extremely useful, then take a look at Trillian - it's an IM client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC all in the one program. It saves on system resources and is very useful when you regularly talk to people across different applications.

I'm not sure if its Trillian..but I let AIM download and install the latest version (6), and the amount of system resources it uses it obscene! With it minimized to the system tray (pressing the "X" in the upper right corner) it's still using about 21,000K of memory, and a couple of CPU processes every now and again. When I'm actually using it (AIM in the task bar) it uses the same amount, if not more memory that Opera! It uses about 77,000K of memory..and a couple of CPU processes every couple of seconds or so. The only reason I don't dump it is because it logs all AIM convos, and I haven't found a good 3rd party program to log chats in AIM 5.5 or whatever it is.

yea im not reli liking any of the new aim versions and stuff. and the reason i asked for an old 5.5 version was because im using an aim add-on called aimutation, its good and im used to it. lol. rarely use msn or other stuff. mainly aim.

i updated nod 32, and i still get the alert, this is wat its showing:
