anything free besides Zone Alarm and SP2 out there?

hello
even if i disable all security features ZA won't let me on line. it worked fine at first. same with sp2 exept it only works a few times then won't let me on line. can i fix ZA i really liked it. also if i can that may unravel the long mystery of why sp2 won't work for me. pc has enough memory etc.

I'm sure there's just a setting you didn't configure correctly or something. I had a similar post a few weeks back(well, just wanting something a bit smaller) but I'm afraid Zone Alarm is the best free one out there. I found one really basic firewall, but it only blocked ports, not programs(which most use port 80 for the internet)

I would agree with Other_One about ZA, but a lot of these ratings are opinions, and if they are all near the same quality, any one of them are going to be sufficient.

Well

I would recommend sunbelt kerio personal firewall, which is an amazingly advanced little firewall for the fact its simplified version is free. I recommend it.
