Just wondering, Ive been kinda outta the loop for a few months although i think I heard that AMD put out a 6 core is that correct?

So yeah anything new and exciting expected from either of the CPU makers in the next year or so?

Haha yeah. I was mainly after a sorta of a convo on the up n coming, your guys thoughts, any stats etc that sound cool etc...

AFAIK both Sandy Bridge and Bulldozer are at least a year away, I'm pretty sure Bulldozer isn't coming out until a little before the world ends. Of course nobody knows for sure and ATM it's all just hype, but I've heard some people say that Bulldozer is going to be "Awesome" and "kick Intel's ass" and all that.

AMD's 6 core is out for non-server mobos. It is cheap ($200) and can compete with the more expensive, Intel mid-range CPUs. I have one and I love it. Intel's $1000 6-core blows everything else away except for maybe some 100-core niche-market CPUs. As for Bulldozer and Intel, well the future is not ours to see, que sara, sara.

Intel Sandy Bridge remains on schedule for a January 2011 release, though it is possible we will see products sold as early as December 2010 - particularly in South East Asia... Just 6 months down the line and say goodbye to LGA 1156 :D

AMD released the Phenom II x6 1090t, 1055t, and people have spotted dell computers sporting a 1035t. these cpu's also feature amd turbo core, which iirc clocks 3 cores higher than others when using non-multithreaded apps.

Intel announced LGA 2011 and LGA 1155 sockets for next year as well as sandy bridge.

AMD bulldozer and bobcat tech are coming late this year or sometime next year.
