I've been wanting to get into one of these games for awhile. The only drawback is the Monthly Fee. I've played the Trial of WoW, and didn't really like it. But I am leaning more towards Age of Conan.

What do you think?

if you didnt like WoW but you did like AoC, why still ask? ;)

either way, I kinda dislike what i've heard from AoC so far. from what I've heard is mroe a pvp gankfest than anything else. I'm waiting for Warhammer online to be released, looking forward to that one. (and hope its good! :P )

but, between these 2, I like WoW better.

Yup.

Ive played a little wow and it was pretty fun. A nice change from FPS but i dont think i could ever be one of those kids who play it 8 hours a day (but that goes for any game). Id say it was a little more addicting than CSS cause theres so much to it but it can also be really slow at times....(i guess this turned out to be a comparison of FPS and MMOs) But yeah, I played wow (not aoc) and it was fun.

i know this has nothing to do with what your asking but i have no idea why people play wow... i've tried the free trial and just found it really REALLY boring.. i've seen online play from youtube and can't understand what the big deal is!! I like rpgs but hate WOW... well maybe i wouldn't say that if i played more than 10 hours but w.e

lol, my experience was it only gets slower.
I got bored around level 25 and quit cause it took to long to level, I guess im just impacient ;)

Wow is not an RPG, an MMORPG is completely different, don't get the two confused. You have to give the game some time.

I vote WoW. A lot of AOC is instanced (meaning you are playing with only yourself or a limited amount of other people) and that just doesn't cut it for me. Hardly feels like an MMO.

I voted AoC it looks really cool. i cant see how people could basically buy the game over and over again each month!. but i bet those guys are making some big bucks! lets see here...15 a month, 1 million users....thats about 15000000 dollars a MONTH!@ what a rip off.

also how can you buy it every month when you know there are some good FREE ones out there. I was doing research earlier this week...:)

dont get World of warcraft you will get sucked in by it and become addicted :D

i hear so many times that it make people become adicted to it.

i honestly dont see whats so good about the game to be honest it looks crap :D

Ever tried Age of empires 3?

AoC has a lot wrong with it. Even though it is a very nice looking game, the basics are messed up. For the amount of time it took to release and everything, it seems incomplete.

I voted for World of Warcraft, because as far as MMORPGs go it is still the best one out there, and thats not just an opinion...however when Warhammer Online comes out, that might be a different story.

WoW is probably the most well rounded mmorpg. it has the best community, and is vitually endless and you can always find something new to do. although WoW does take a while for it to really get fun (lvl 40). i am looking forward to playing AoC though and i plan on getting it soon, but theres no way its in any position as of now to topple the king of mmorpg's.

My question though:

I am terribly, hopelessly bored with World Of Warcraft and it's end-game content. I've been there, done that, and doing the endless dailies is killing me, I hate it.

Is Age Of Conan worth my time and money to catch the excitement of an exhausted WoW fan?

I played WoW for about a year, stopped, then played for 6 months.

It's more of the same the higher up you go.

AOC is the new kid with the flashy graphics and some nifty gore. However it's not finished. I played, and cancelled after the first month. It's also a very spec demanding game.

The combat was more fun in AOC, but I think overall WoW is put together better with years of playtesting and patches. I found the first 20 levels or so the most fun, so if you're not liking it after 15 days, then you probably won't like in the long run.

AOC's first 20ish levels are like an RPG. It's a self contained storyline for you as you progress. It's a pretty polished experience with everything voice acted. Though after lvl 20, and once you enter the open world, the voice acting stops and it turns in to something very different.

I recommend seeing which one your friends like and going with that. Whichever game will be 1000x more fun with others you know playing.

I've also been thinking about pre-ordering Warhammer Online so I can get into the Open Beta whenever that happens... I just might do it to...

I would definitely go with AoC. It has a few bugs but they have worked through a lot of them so far. The PvP is actually fun....for me that is enough :). The siege battles make the game worth palying though. They are so epic. A little laggy...but ya. I would highly recommend trying it out. If you do buy it, play on deathwhisper server....it has a good community and is usually pretty crowded.
