On sunday morning I called up AOL to request my MAC code. (To leave AOL to Pipex)

This is the only time AOL support have impressed me. They firstly gave me 8mb/s broadband for £9.99 p/m.

I thought hell with it might as well try for something else.....so I got a free Netgear wireless modem. I'm happy for once with AOL.

Have you had a run in with AOL support, what did you think? I still think they suck but this person was nice.

Anyone want to buy a Linksys WAG54G, it has not failed me, no drop outs.

I think they suck aswell, Customer support is OK and so is the connection, but what they do about upgrading is a bit irritating.

I was meant to be upgraded from 1Mb to 2Mb in April, Im STILL here sitting on a 1Mb line!

Have contacted them to see what there doing and everytime I ask I just get "Were getting onto it"

Im currently moving my ISP though to Bulldog 8Mb.

well im using aol here in uk and i have been getting speeds up to 100meg?
i have just been upgraded to 8meg on the platinum package....

i have used 2 other companys "bt google" & "tiscali" both wer shocking tiscali decided to uncap my download limit then decided i used to much and smothered my speed.

so i guess im kinda happy with aol

(i might be the only one lol)

Oh Bootup05 they did that to me for a year. Phone Bt and talk to them about the upgrade.

AOL will just lead you on to pay the 2mb when you can only get 1mbs

You need to ask BT to upgrade the line,

But bulldog are good, dont they have the "Fair usage" crap that tiscali, read the small print

i wish i had of read the small print-fair usage is just crap!!

how can one company have fair usage and another have unlimited?

I think AOL is the biggest peice of crap ever created. But im stuck with it! 512 kb/s is the MAX I can get in my area which is ghey. But im moving soon :D so im gonna maybe get that new sky broadband 16 mb/s OR Bluyonder 10 mb/s

The area of exchange where I live is getting up to 16mb/s soon! I won’t be getting this. I’m alright with what I have got but I do need SHDSL (1:1 upload to download)

AOL is a very good for the money, 14.99 for 1mb, 20.00 for 2mb and 24.00 up to 8mb. This is unlimited and it has not got a "Fair Usage" scam. I am currently using nearly 4 GB a month on SHOUTcast, I have had no email saying you are being capped.

They are good for what they provide but if you have a problem with the connection your pretty much screwed.

If you are with AOL and have been with them for more than 2 years phone them up and say...nay, demand that you get something better. If you call them 9-5 when the call centre is in Ireland and not abroad, they will bend over backwards to give you something better if you threaten to leave.

Hahaha. You got sucked in. That's classic. AOL is famous for not letting their customers go. Even if they insist on leaving, AOHell will not let them leave. There was a news article on the net not long ago about them and their shady business practices. But hai, if you're happy then what the hell, right?

well i pay about £15 for a 512 kb/s connection with AOL thats about $28. On the fair usage thing how much would they cap you by?

Tiscali Fair Usage

SirKenin, I have had problems with Aol, mainly AOL software. Once I got my WAG54G it all stoped, unimited usage at 9.99 pm is quite good if you ask me, plus I got a free Netgear Wireless router.

I feel sorry for people on Tiscali, poor people.

I remembered once (back when I used dial up), i got one of those "Try AOL free for 3 months" thing. At the end of the 3 months, i just called them and complained how it lagged my computer and stuff (which it didn't). And they said that they'll give us another 7 months free, which totals a year of free service. It was still slow though, but it was funny how they were just handing out free service.
