ok I keep going back and forth between motherboards and lost.
I am building this computer for my father in law. Now I am inbetween a Aopen mother board and a Intel motherboard. Here is some info:

Intel with 351 / 3.20 ghz Intel Celeron D
- Front side Bus 533/800 mhz
- socket 775
- 2 memory slots (2 gb total)
- 4 IDE (ATA 100)
- USB 400mbs version 2.0
- 2 PCI slots
- 1 PCI Express slot x1
- 1 PCI Express slot x16
- 4 Serial ATA headers
Processor Specifications
- 351 / 3.20GHz
- Socket 775
- Cache Size 256KB
- Bus Speed 533MHz

Now you see there is not alot of room to upgrade with that motherboard. You cant add more than 2GB of memory (which i dont know if he would want more)

AOpen with Intel Celeron 350 / 3.20 ghz
- Socket 478
- 800Mhz front side bus
- 4 slots of memory (4GB)
- AGP 8x
- IDE 4 devices ATA 100
- USB 480Mhz version 2.0
- 1 AGP slots, 4 PCI slot
- 2 serial ATA headers
Processor the same as above besides its 350 / 3.20 ghz instead of 351 / 3.20 ghz.. what does that mean? 350 or 351?

The Aopen is $179 the intel is $159
What is your opinion? Thanks

yes they are both combos. I do not have anything for the computer. I'm shopping around. Its going to be a christmas present for this coming christmas. I do that the Case picked out. Thats all.

So your building this for 2006 christmas? lol if so DONT BUY ANYTHING YET prices will drop by like 50% by then lol

lol you got a good point, but i still have to pick the products.. here what im basically looking for if possible:

Processor: 3.20 or more
at least 4 PCI slots
at least 2 serial ata
at least 4 memory slots ( im putting 1 or 1.5 gb in it but would like for him to upgrade)

I also want to add a good video card, dvd/rw/r/cdrw/r dual layer maybe, floppy drive with slots for his digital camera ( found one for 39.99 ) 300-320 harddrive (serial ata)

120mm fan for the case.

Oh yea i got a question. The case has a lcd that tells the temp and what is running in the computer (hdd cdrom) here it is: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1178021&sku=TC3J-4002

I looked at the Asrock. I like it. But I was looking for a processor at least 3ghz or more.. If i do it like that I will spend more that way wouldnt I?

Well that is what i got picked out so far.. comes to: $728.91 with shipping. How good do you think this will be? Can i do alot better for the price? Not looking for a expensive video card btw. Well let me know what you think

a p4 at 2.66ghz is faster than a celeron d at 3.2 It just is :P. freqency(spelling?) isnt all that counts

If you wait for 10 or 11 months, when it come's to actually buying them you'll find there will be different products.

I think it's a bit foolish to look for components which will be bought and built in just under a year, when you don't know what else is coming out in half a years time.

The Aopen is $179 the intel is $159
Id get the LGA775 one but theres not a lot of difference really

at least 4 PCI slots
Any particular reason?

I looked at the Asrock. I like it.
ASRock make crappy motherboards. So does PC Chips, BIOSTAR, ECS etc

a p4 at 2.66ghz is faster than a celeron d at 3.2 It just is . freqency(spelling?) isnt all that counts
Well with CPUs, frequency IS all that counts when discussing speed of the chip :) The Pentium4 however will be abetter chip

really? dang i feel dumb.. like i said im new at this lol

CPU 101OC 101
