Greetings....I've got a question and a problem regarding the use of an IDE vs. SATA harddrive on an AOpen SK86-L Motherboard....it's a slight problem that might just be a setting in the BIOS I'm missing...
I have three harddrives...two IDE and one new SATA drives. My XP operating system on the 1st IDE harddrive became corrupted this week, although the OS does load, but is difficult to repair, so I will use the HD for storage. I also needed a larger capacity HD anyway, thus the new SATA Drive.
I loaded a Vista Business operating system without a hitch on the SATA drive, and all harddrives are recognized in startup.....but the computer always defaults to the IDE drive's corrupt operating system, not the new one on the SATA drive, (defaults to looking at the IDE drive before the SATA drive) and I haven't found a workaround to have it load from just the SATA drive... If I disable the IDE drive altogether, the SATA drive's OS loads without a problem....
Am I just overlooking something in the BIOS regarding having the MB look for the SATA drive before the HD on the IDE channel? Something this simple shouldn't be this hard to figure out for me, but it obviously has!
Thanx in advance.
