Apache help needed!

Hi people.

Just installed apache on my system.

Don't have a domain ATM so I have the site running on my external i.p ATM for testing.

Have followed a few online tutorials and added the virtual-hosts.conf folder

Also added the 'Include conf/virtual-hosts.conf' prompt in the httpd.conf file.

Now, I have Dreamweaver installed and know a little bit of HTML.

Have done a few headers in Dreamweaver and also tryed adding a html guide file from a tutorial to try to get it working.

But whatever I try, The server will not restart when prompted.

Has anyone else ever experienced this:confused:

I have no Idea whats going on with it, Im not sure if I needed to add anything else into the httpd file but I added what I was told to, have tryed adding tutorial files and just cannot get it to work.

My router is outbound forwarding Port 80 and I can connect to the site from my system, another system on my network and I also asked this guy from australia to try it and it works:P - so everythings fine there.

Just can't get the server back up and running once I add any file into the virtual hosts folder.
Tryed HTML, txt and JPG's and the server just wont restart!

Any help? :)

Right well I had a talk with my I.T teacher at school and he said that it was because I was trying to host the server on the same server that I was viewing on?:confused:

He said install it on a networked pc, and make the virtual-hosts.conf folder on my system, then in the httpd.conf file tell the server to go over the network to the folder on my sytem to get the host files.

Or

What sounds like the easier option to me.
He said I could use Dreamweaver to host as it has its own setup.

I have just pressed the Dreamweaver Site.. tab and set up the domain as my external i.p and set the server name to my ip aso plus set up a hosting folder.

If it was working I would of thought that I would be able to connect and then just see a blank page?

But thats not the case!

Im just getting "Cannot find Server"

Which to me means that Dreamweaver isn't configured properly.

Could anyone help me out a bit:confused: :)
