Aperture Size on ASUS K8N

What does the aperture size do? The default setting is 128MB and I was wondering if an increase to 256MB or even 512MB would increase the performance. I just upgraded my AGP to a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT 256MB from an ATI Radeon 9200 128MB. I'm running XP SP2 and the rest of the spec are in my signature. Thanks.

From my understanding the aperature size is how much system memory the gfx card can access so if you already have a 256 MB card (the exact same card I have I might add :)) it probably won't help much to increase the apperature size.

(Yea, I'm officially a computer addict... does this mean I have to go to rehab or those stupid support groups?)

you're right, with a 256MB card it wont do much, there probably isn't much difference on even a 128MB card

yes, its a 31 step program for Intel and a 12 step program for AMD :P

So I guess it wouldn't hurt to increase it to 256MB. Or will that take away from the overall system memory I have? Basically, what I'm asking is what would be the most efficient setting with my specs.

I think it just won't affect anything good or bad. I usually like to keep default settings unless I have a specific reason to change them... but thats just me :)
