App that can monitor another app's doings?

Yeah... let's say I download something with spyware, or some program with that stupid SearchBar Technologies or something like that (like demo version of programs, desktop wallpapers, etc) and I want to monitor what files did that program created / modified / deleted, where did that happened, and optionally, registry entries. I mean, I run the App Watcher, then the program. The app watcher tells me the program installed some unwanted icons & url links in Start Menu/Programs/OMGWallpaperz/lol.ico and stuff. I know there are programs that can do that... thing is... anyone know of one?

can u see that their is additional programs created and added in the control panel in add/remove programs, and also look for the msconfig utiltity and see if there are unused programs that u don't want.
 
Well, most decent anti-virus software with live protection will be ableo to immediately tell you whne a program is installing malware on your computer. I know Norton did this when I had it, but I don't suggest buying it because it's expensive, and there are better softwares available for cheaper. One I highly recommend is AVG, it has a completely FREE version which you can download, and it has live protection and much more.

A few tips. When installing a program, don't jsut clikc "Next" till' its done. Read where it is installing things, exactly what it's installing, etc. Alot of programs now include searchbars or similiar annoyances, if you just breeze through the install process you might miss the "do not install *blah*" and then you're screwed.
 
houssam_ballout: I know that -_-; was meaning about monitoring what do the chosen program does.

4W4K3: Uh, that's kinda the problem, the program installs it without any choice if I want to or not, and so I was wondering if there was a program that would monitor it and tell me which files extracted where and stuff.
 
I can't think of one that will list every file installed, every folder edited, every registry modified, etc. There would be a whole mess of things to sort through jsut for a simple program.

Before installing the program, make sure it's a quality software. Software that includes searchbars, ads, etc. usually isn't the best thing to install. There is almost always a better solution, even if it costs money, it might be worth it to skip the annoyances.
